AEW Dynamite preview 08/30/23: Orange Cassidy vs. Penta, Adam Cole speaks

We’ll also hear from Adam Cole tonight on AEW Dynamite in the wake of losing the biggest match of his career.

There aren’t many times when pro wrestling promotions have two straight weeks of go home shows, but no one in recent memory is trying exactly what AEW is doing right now. On the heels of the spectacle that was All In London, it’s full speed ahead for All Out this weekend in Chicago. Tonight’s Dynamite in the Windy City really has no choice but to set the stage for what’s ahead on Sunday.

That’s why it’s a little strange that only two things have really been announced for tonight’s show as of this post, though there are several extenuating circumstances: travel difficulties making it back from London, that Brawl In thing you may have heard about, and reports that Tony Khan has give talent time off if needed to attend services for the late Bray Wyatt.

So here’s what we’ve got. There’s no rest for Orange Cassidy even though he competed in the Stadium Stampede match at Wembley. He’ll defend the International Championship against Penta El Zero Miedo for a dubious prize indeed, as the winner has to face Jon Moxley at All Out.

We’ll also hear from Adam Cole after the biggest match of his career, when he unsuccessfully tried to win the AEW World Championship from friend and partner MJF. Cole had every chance to take the low road to a victory, including plenty of help from Roderick Strong, but decided to choose friendship over glory. Does he regret that choice now? And what’s next for him?

Expect much more to come together for tonight, some of which AEW might even reveal ahead of time. We’ll be taking in the action beginning at 8 p.m. ET on TNT and invite you to join us back here at Wrestling Junkie for live updates and results if you aren’t able to do the same.
