Adrian Peterson nearly hits 100 yards in Lions’ debut

The former Vikings running back had himself a day on Sunday against the Bears in his first game with the Lions.

In a surprise move, the Detroit Lions signed former Vikings running back Adrian Peterson last week after he was released by Washington.

In his first game with the Lions, Peterson didn’t disappoint. Despite the Lions having both Kerryon Johnson and D’Andre Swift in the backfield, Peterson ran 14 times for a game-high 93 yards on Sunday against the Chicago Bears.

Peterson also added three catches for 21 yards.

Detroit lost 27-23.

The Lions had a chance at the win, but Swift dropped what would have been a game-winning touchdown late in the fourth quarter.

Peterson now has 14,310 career rushing yards, a mark that ranks fifth in NFL history. He’s 959 yards behind Lions legend Barry Sanders for fourth.

When looking up Peterson’s age, the internet tells us he’s 35 years old. The old eye test tells us different.

Peterson and the Lions face off against the Packers in Green Bay in Week 2. We’ll see if he’s as big of a piece for Detroit’s offense as he was in Week 1.
