Addition PJ Tucker ready to play the center spot for Sixers if he has to

PJ Tucker is willing to play the center spot for the Philadelphia 76ers if he is called on to do so.

CHARLESTON, S.C. — The Philadelphia 76ers are continuing training camp in Charleston, and they will need all of the practice time they can get considering the new group of players on the roster.

One of those additions is PJ Tucker, who was signed at the start of free agency. He is looking to have an effect on this roster, and he is already putting his stamp on the team. He is showing in camp that he is willing to do whatever it takes. That includes playing center despite standing 6 feet, 5 inches.

“It’s the same thing,” said Tucker. “It doesn’t matter what position being on the floor, it doesn’t matter. I started at center for a whole year, so it doesn’t matter.”

Tucker started at center for the Houston Rockets in the 2019-20 season when Daryl Morey decided to go small with that group. He was a plus-3.3 per 100 possessions when playing center for the Rockets. Nothing changed in his play.

“No, not at all,” Tucker continued. “Same thing. That’s what I’m saying, it doesn’t change anything.”

The biggest thing with Tucker, along with his experience and his willingness to do whatever it takes to win, is his versatility. There are so many things out on the floor he can do, and he is willing to do what is asked of him.

“I’m a chameleon,” he finished. “I can fit in anywhere, any scheme. I’m a guy that just does his job. Period. It may not be pretty. It may not be the glamorous thing to do, but just getting the job done because at the end of the day, all that matters is winning. It’s all people remember is winning, and it’s all that matters.”
