Adam Silver: NBA doesn’t like Kevin Durant, players requesting trades

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver reflected on Kevin Durant’s trade request from the Brooklyn Nets.

As the offseason pushes forward Kevin Durant is patiently waiting to be traded out of Brooklyn, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver reflected on the trade request.

With the Miami Heat making an all-out effort for superstar Durant, the NBA’s commissioner reflected on players requesting trades from their teams.

New York Post-Nets reporter Brian Lewis asked commissioner Silver about the trade request, who seemed hopeful that the relationship between Durant and the organization is improved.

Silver said, “There’s always conversations behind closed doors between the players and the representatives of the teams. But we don’t like to see players requesting trades and we don’t like to see it playing out the way it is. Star movement that is a result of free agency or trades doesn’t bother me at all…It gives players & teams opportunities to rebuild change circumstances (when) it’s not working for the team or the player. I separated that from guys requesting that they get traded.”

This is the second consecutive summer where a star player requested a trade. In 2021, it was Ben Simmons during his time with the Philadelphia 76ers and now, it’s Durant. Player empowerment is an important thing and players should feel comfortable doing what they want to do, but it is disappointing to see big names requesting trades in this fashion.
