Adam Schein of NFL.com is convinced Bruce Arians ‘simply loathes’ Jameis Winston

See what NFL.com writer Adam Schein had to say about the relationship between Bruce Arians and quarterback Jameis Winston.

NFL free agency is a few weeks away and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will have some tough decision to make, namely, what to do with quarterback Jameis Winston. While head coach Bruce Arians seemed to indicate at this week’s NFL Scouting Combine that the team already knows what they plan to do, no official announcement on Winston has been made.

Many believe the quarterback should be given one more season to play in Arians’ system, while others feel the team should cut its losses after watching Winston throw 30 interceptions last season. Adam Schein of NFL.com wrote about the 2020 NFL quarterback carousel that is about to get underway, and he did not hold back in his assessment of Winston.

Per Schein:

“Every time Bruce Arians speaks, I become more convinced he simply loathes Winston and his knack for throwing passes to the other team. Thirty picks can do that to a coach. There’s no reason to bring Winston back. We’ve seen five years of this quarterback at the NFL level, and at this point, he is what he is: A naturally talented thrower whose wildly erratic play keeps both teams in every game. Jameis will never live up to the hype of being the No. 1 overall pick — a pick, by the way, that Arians didn’t make.”

Pretty rough. Schein believes that Derek Carr, Philip Rivers or Teddy Bridgewater would be clear upgrades over Winston. And, if we want to talk about Arians’ feelings towards Winston some more, remember what Peter King had to say.
