ACC Tournament stumbles to championship round

A strange year of ACC basketball only got stranger on Friday of the conference tournament.

The ACC Tournament championship game will take place Saturday night in Greensboro, North Carolina and it’ll truly be one of a kind.

Florida State, who advanced to the tournament semifinal after Duke was forced to pull out of the tournament due to a positive COVID-19 test on their team, beat North Carolina on Friday to advance to the finals.

There they’ll meet Georgia Tech who didn’t end up playing a game Friday night because of a positive test, subsequent quarantining, and contact tracing within the Virginia men’s basketball program.

Both Florida State and Georgia Tech will play for the conference title after having to play just one game in the tournament.

The ACC Tournament is almost perfectly symbolic of what college basketball was during the 2020-21 season.

We knew the sport had its work cut out for it back in the fall and it kept plowing ahead, somehow, someway.

Now we can just hope COVID-19 stays out of the way of the NCAA Tournament that tips off next week.
