ACC baseball tournament: Semi-final Saturday Preview

It’s a semi-final Saturday at the ACC baseball tournament. Details here:

It’ll be one match-up of Cinderella’s and one of the heavy favorites on Saturday at the ACC baseball tournament in Charlotte.

In the first game on Saturday at Truist Field in Charlotte, it’ll be No. 8 Virginia taking on No. 9 Duke with a spot in the championship round on the line.

Virginia qualified for the semi-finals after blowing out No. 1 Notre Dame 14-1 on Friday afternoon while Duke qualified as the nine-seed after a blowout win over No. 5 Florida State and a walk-off win against No. 4 Miami.

Duke has won 10-straight games and will look to make it 11 at 1 p.m. ET on Saturday against the Cavaliers.

The winner of Duke and Virginia will take on the winner of Saturday evening’s No. 2 Georgia Tech vs. No. 3 NC State contest.

Georgia Tech dropped their tournament opener against Clemson but refused to quit against Louisville, trailing three different times before coming back each one of them and eventually winning in 12 innings.

NC State clinched their advancement after hanging off No. 10 Pitt 3-2 on Wednesday.  The Wolfpack fell in an inconsequential contest against North Carolina on Friday night, 9-6.
