The Temple Owls (14-19) and Charlotte 49ers (19-11) meet in the quarterfinals of the American Athletic Conference (AAC) Tournament Friday at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth. Tip-off is scheduled for 9 p.m. ET (ESPNU/ESPN+). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Temple vs. Charlotte odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and best bets.

No. 11 seed Temple racked up a 64-61 win over No. 14 UTSA in the 1st round Wednesday, and surprised No. 6 SMU in a 75-60 upset to get to the quarters. It’s the 1st time Temple has won 2 games in a single AAC Tournament since joining the conference.

No. 3 seed Charlotte searches for its 20th win in its 1st appearance in Fort Worth, and 1st-ever AAC Tournament game. The 49ers struggled down the stretch in late February into early March, losing 3 in a row, but they closed with back-to-back wins against Rice and at East Carolina to grab a little momentum heading in.

These teams met once in the regular season, with Charlotte narrowly escaping Philadelphia with a 73-70 win as Temple grabbed the cover as a 6-point underdog with the Over (133.5) coming in.

Temple vs. Charlotte picks and predictions

Prediction

Charlotte 73, Temple 69

Moneyline

Backing Charlotte (-300) will cost you 3 times your potential return, and that’s way too much risk on a singular bet, especially against a Temple (+240) side which has won 2 games in Fort Worth already and has a little bit of confidence heading into play.

PASS.

Against the spread

TEMPLE +6.5 (-105) has a little momentum, winning a pair of games in Fort Worth already. It has gotten used to Dickies Arena and should have a little confidence, while Charlotte -6.5 (-115) takes a little bit to feel things out in its 1st appearance of the tourney.

In addition, the 49ers struggled down the stretch, frittering away a chance at a higher seed. Charlotte was playing South Florida for 1st place at one point Feb. 6 in Tampa. It lost then, and the 49ers are just 5-4 straight up and 2-7 ATS since, including a win and non-cover against the Owls.

Over/Under

OVER 132.5 (-110) might be the best betting option on the board.

The Over cashed in 2 of the final 3 games for Charlotte, and the 49ers defense has allowed 69 or more points in 9 of the past 12 outings, including at Temple Feb. 11.

The Owls have hit the Under in each of their 2 games in the AAC tourney so far, averaging 69.5 PPG on offense while allowing just 60.5 PPG, so be careful and don’t get carried away. However, the Over is 7-5 across the past 12 games for Temple, too.
