Why to cheer for Ohio State

At the beginning of Texas’ 2005 national championship season, the Longhorns traveled north to Columbus. In an instant classic, Vince Young and wide receiver Limas Sweed connected for a late touchdown to win 25-22. The Buckeyes made the return trip the next season, winning a 24-7 matchup between the No. 1 and No. 2 teams in the country.

Why to cheer against Ohio State

For starters, Ryan Day has come into the state of Texas and cleaned up in recruiting. In the 2022 class alone, Ohio State has stolen five-star quarterback Quinn Ewers and five-star wide receiver Caleb Burton. It was part of the reason Tom Herman was let go early in the new year.

Another national championship would just fuel the fire that is Ryan Day’s pending dynasty. To fully become a national contender again, it will begin with fending off programs such as Ohio State in the recruiting world. While a loss would not change that right away, it would certainly help.
