Why to cheer for Alabama

With Steve Sarkisian calling his last game as the offensive coordinator, it will be hard for Texas fans to root against the Alabama offense. Up to this point this season, Crimson Tide players have been honored with awards such as the Davey O’Brien, Doak Walker, Biltentikof and Heisman Trophy. What this offense has been able to do is nothing short of amazing.

From a recruiting perspective in Austin, having a head coach who is fresh off a national championship is never a bad look. If Alabama is able to pull off a victory with a ton of points scored, Sarkisian is going to have a great sales pitch to top high school players.

Why to cheer against Alabama

The 2009 BCS National Championship still stings for a lot of Texas fans. Witnessing Nick Saban begin one of the greatest dynasties in college football history while Mack Brown took the program further south is still impacting the Longhorns to this day. Even without Colt McCoy throughout a majority of the game, Texas still feels robbed.

Mix that in with the Saban rumors dating back to the beginning of the decade and there is still beef from a Texas fan perspective. Plus, seeing a shift of power away from the Crimson Tide is something that could be for the betterment of college football.
