A sea of pigeons took over the field in Steelers-Saints and they just wouldn’t go away

The field belongs to the pigeons now, sorry!

Heading into Sunday’s afternoon matchup in Pittsburgh, all the Steelers and Saints wanted to do was play a standard-fare professional football game. It’s mid-November, and both squads are trying to build on something. The Steelers want to see progress from young quarterback Kenny Pickett. The Saints want to see any kind of light at the end of the tunnel.

But as the two teams battled it out, Mother Nature — specifically lots and lots of birds — had different ideas about letting a football game happen unimpeded.

You see, a sea of pigeons that appeared in the pre-game simply wouldn’t go away even as action ensured. No matter what was happening on the field, these birds didn’t care about it at all. They found a nice spot to gather and weren’t going to give it up even if “asked” nicely:

Sorry Steelers. Sorry Saints. The field belongs to those birds now. You can have it back full-time later, but unfortunately, you’ll have to play football around their presence.
