Jabari Small scored on a 2-yard rushing attempts with 13 minutes, 34 seconds remaining in the first quarter. Chase McGrath’s extra point gave Tennessee a 7-0 lead.
The Vols extended its advantage to 10-0 when McGrath kicked a 37-yard field goal.
Pittsburgh would prevail in the contest. Quarterback Kenny Pickett recorded 285 passing yards, two passing touchdown passes (Melquise Stovall, Lucas Krull) and one rushing touchdown.
Tennessee quarterback Hendon Hooker recorded two passing touchdowns (Jimmy Calloway, Jacob Warren).
Jaylen Wright scored the Vols’ final touchdown of the game on a 1-yard run with 10:09 remaining.
