It looks like Patrick Mahomes won’t be hurting for money anytime soon. The reigning Super Bowl MVP and quarterback of the Kansas City Chiefs, who has taken the league by storm in his first two years as a starter, signed a record contract yesterday with the Chiefs.
Compensation update: Patrick Mahomes’ 10-year extension is worth $450 million, sources tell ESPN.
The injury guarantee is $140 million, per source.
The contract does not contain language that ties its value to a percentage of the salary cap.
Richest deal in sports’ history.

The Chiefs locked up the best quarterback in the league, and the NFL must be thrilled at the prospect of having one of the game’s brightest young stars playing for a historic franchise like the Chiefs for years to come.
Mahomes has proven in his short time as a starter that he has what it takes to be one of the best to ever play the position. He’s even defeated Tom Brady on the road in New England!
Brady will be 43 years old when the 2020 season rolls around, and it just so happens that he and his Buccaneers will welcome Mahomes and the Chiefs to town during the regular season.
And, who knows, maybe we’ll see this rivalry going for years to come if Brady keeps at it!
Take a look at this hilarious tweet looking into the crystal ball of the Brady-Mahomes rivalry.
