A ‘Fortnite’ movie might be on the way from Epic Games

Build battles on the silver screen!

Given that Fortnite  is far and above the biggest video game in recent years, it was only a matter of time before talks of a feature film happened. What’s wild is developer Epic Games themselves might even be behind it, The Information  reported Monday

The Fortnite movie is allegedly part of Epic’s plans to create a new entertainment division focusing on “scripted video content,” which likely refers to films. Earlier this year, Epic hired three former LucasFilm staffers to lead its entertainment endeavors, including Jason McGatlin, a producer on all of Disney’s recent Star Wars films. Jason McGatlin is now president of the special projects division at Epic.

The other two hires from LucasFilm are Chris Furia, whose title at Epic is vice president of production finance, and Lynn Bartsch, whose title at Epic is head of business affairs. Furia was a producer on Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker, while Bartsch worked on the recent Star Wars: The Bad Batch series.

It’s important to note that a Fortnite movie is not a sure thing just yet, only there have been internal talks happening. Given how frequently there are Fornite crossovers with MarvelStar Wars, and virtually every other big movie that’s come out in the past few years, it’s hard to imagine this won’t happen eventually. Hopefully, if it ever does manifest, we will update our best game movie adaptations list instead of our worst game movie adaptations list.
