A deep statistical look at Oklahoma midway through the season

This week we’re going to turn the tables and take a deep statistical look at Oklahoma, position-by-position.

Six Big 12 games are now behind Oklahoma, while three more (maybe four)  and a bowl game await. It’s clear that this team has come a long way from its 1-2 start and unranked status, but less clear where exactly these improvements have come from.

Finding more consistency from quarter to quarter has been one major area of improvement. Oklahoma’s schedule also flipped from the top-half of the conference (Kansas State, Iowa State and Texas) to the bottom-half (TCU, Texas Tech and Kansas), which has clearly resulted in less competitive games.

Each week during the season, we take a deep statistical look at Okahoma’s opponent in order to assess how the Sooners will matchup with them. This week, because of the bye week and because Oklahoma is about halfway through its season, we’re going to turn the tables and take a deep statistical look at Oklahoma, position-by-position. Let’s find out which groups have taken steps forward from season’s start, and which have stagnated.
