A Nebraska basketball player had a career night while leading the Huskers to a critical Big Ten victory. The Cornhuskers defeated Ohio State 83-69 to improve to 15-5 on the season.
Rienk Mast ended the night with 34 points, a career-high for the transfer. His previous career high was 30 points against Northern Iowa in 2023.
After the game, Mast said he knew he was in the zone early in the evening.
“Like C.J. (Wilcher) said, that step back yeah you don’t hit that. I was kind of mad at myself for shooting it because I was just not thinking and I just shot it and it went in. Then I thought, ‘It’s one of those days.’ But all basketball players know, I think we all know sometimes we have those days where it looks like the rim looks like an ocean. Everything you throw up goes in. Unfortunately, I don’t have those days that often, but once you have them it’s pretty fun. I don’t expect to shoot that exact same percentage next game, but this does give a lot of confidence.”
With the win, Nebraska has now improved their home record to 13-1 on the season. Nebraska will take the floor on Saturday when the Huskers travel to College Park to take on the Maryland Terrapins.
