The New England Patriots will take on the Buffalo Bills in a game where the team hopes to pull off an upset or, at the very least, be competitive against a playoff-contending division rival.
They have lost their last four straight games in a year where they have struggled on both sides of the ball. You’d have to go all the way back well over a month ago to their November 10 win over the Chicago Bears to find their last victory.
Quarterback Drake Maye was the lone bright spot for the team offensively in Week 15 against the Arizona Cardinals. He went 19-of-23 passing on the day for 203 yards, a touchdown and an interception. He also continued to make plays with his legs by scoring a rushing touchdown in the matchup.
The Patriots will be facing an offensive juggernaut in the Bills who can get explosive playmaking from multiple positions on offense.
Quarterback Josh Allen is coming off a game against the Detroit Lions last week that saw him throw for 362 yards and two touchdowns. It was an incredible performance that undoubtedly strengthened his case for MVP.
The defense will also have to contend with the playmaking talents of running back James Cook, who torched the Lions on the ground with 14 carries for 105 yards and two touchdowns.
Allen’s mobility and Cook’s ability to get to the second level quickly could provide a challenge for a Patriots’ defense that has struggled with dynamic offenses.
Here’s the full round-up of Patriots Wire staff picks for the Week 16 matchup:
Jordy McElroy (5-9) – Patriots 17, Bills 41
Danny Jaillet (7-7) – Patriots 14, Bills 38
Cam Garrity (4-10) – Patriots 7, Cardinals 43
