Steelers QB injury changes the dynamic of offense vs Ravens

The Steelers offense took another hit with Justin Fields out vs the Ravens.

The Pittsburgh Steelers released their game status report on Thursday ahead of Saturday’s game against the Baltimore Ravens. There was plenty of news coming out of that report and one move that went under the radar that could have a huge impact on the offense is backup quarterback Justin Fields being out with an abdominal injury.

Fields started the season as the Steelers starting quarterback and went 4-2. Fields gave way to Russell Wilson and became the team’s No. 2 quarterback and was gradually being worked into the lineup in some specialized packages that utilized Fields’ athleticism.

Without Fields, the Steelers will lose that extra dimension in the rushing offense. Pittsburgh is already going to be without wide receiver George Pickens, so losing Fields means the Steelers are now minus their two best big-play threats.

Not having Fields also means Kyle Allen becomes the backup. We aren’t saying Allen is a bad player but if something should happen to Wilson, we aren’t confident Allen can lead the offense the way Fields could.
