NFL mock draft from CBS has Shedeur Sanders not going first overall in 2025

The QB debates for the 2025 NFL Draft have begun.

We’ve already reach the “which quarterback is going first?” portion of NFL mock draft season.

It feels like we’re down to two QBs who could go in the first round, and maybe in the top-two: Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders and Miami’s Cam Ward. Our latest NFL mock draft from Christian D’Andrea had Ward going over Sanders to the New York Giants.

And in the latest 2025 NFL mock draft from CBS Sports, that’s the case as well. It’s Ward to the Giants and Sanders to the Las Vegas Raiders. What’s the thinking there? Here’s what Ryan Wilson wrote about that intriguing choice:

Cam Ward would’ve likely been no better than QB5 in last year’s draft class, but he’s QB1 in 2024. Teams had a late Day 2/Day 3 grade on him over the summer, but he’s made big strides this season; he’s playing more from the pocket, he’s getting the ball out on time and he’s doing a better job of getting through his reads. We know about the athleticism and arm strength, but he’s gotten better each year he’s been in college, too.

There you have it. Make sure to check out the latest NFL mock draft from D’Andrea, along with the up-to-date NFL Draft order.
