Defensive end Dayon Hayes is looking for a fresh start following an injury-shortened 2024 season with the Colorado Buffaloes. According to On3’s Hayes Fawcett, the former Pitt Panther plans to re-enter the college football transfer portal.
Due to an undisclosed injury that required surgery, Hayes’ lone season in Boulder came to an early conclusion. He played in the Buffs’ first four games and was highly productive, recording 16 total tackles, 3.5 TFLs and two sacks.
Hayes, a former four-star prospect, spent the first four years of his college career at Pitt before entering the transfer portal in April. Last season, he tallied 45 total tackles, 11 TFLs and four sacks.
The 6-foot-3, 265-pound graduate transfer has one year of college eligibility remaining.
As of this writing, Colorado has watched 12 players enter the portal during the winter window, although most saw limited or no playing time in 2024.
