Latest US LBM Coaches Poll as regular season closes

With “Rivalry Week” bringing thrilling results, here is the latest US LBM Coaches Poll as the regular season closes.

With “Rivalry Week” highlighting the final week of the college football regular season, numerous upsets on Friday and Saturday caused chaos within the updated US LBM Coaches Poll.

Starting with Friday night’s Pioneer Heroes Classic between Iowa and Nebraska, the Hawkeyes’ hard-nosed and rugged physicality proved pivotal as Iowa won 13-10 on a game-winning 53-yard field goal from Drew Stevens as time expired.

Elsewhere in the Big Ten, the top-ranked Oregon Ducks easily took care of the Washington Huskies, 49-21, from Autzen Stadium, avenging last season’s devastating loss in Seattle.

The former No. 2-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes were upset by heavy underdog Michigan by a 13-10 score from Ohio Stadium, extending Michigan’s winning streak in the rivalry series to four consecutive years.

With the loss by Ohio State, Penn State secured its spot in the Big Ten Championship Game with a resounding 44-7 victory over Maryland.

Indiana, as expected, throttled the Purdue Boilermakers, 66-0, but were bounced from the conference title game due to tiebreaker rules favoring the Nittany Lions.

Rounding out the Big Ten was Illinois, who were victorious over the Northwestern Wildcats, 38-28, from Wrigley Field.

With the regular season coming to a close, here is how the remainder of the US LMB Coaches Poll played out.
