Patriots announce two roster moves after loss to Rams

The Patriots make a couple of roster moves following Sunday’s loss to the Rams

The New England Patriots announced a couple of roster moves, following Sunday’s 28-22 loss to the Los Angeles Rams.

It was basically a switch at the cornerback position with the team announcing the release of veteran defensive back Marco Wilson, along with the roster activation of second-year cornerback Alex Austin.

Wilson was claimed off waivers by the Patriots in December 2023, and he has mostly served as a rotational option behind Christian Gonzalez, Jonathan Jones and Marcus Jones.

He has struggled during his limited snaps with the team, and it was always likely he wouldn’t stick once Austin returned from his ankle injury. The 2023 seventh-round draft pick out of Oregon State has been sidelined for eight games.

So he should be eager to get back in the mix on defense.

He flashed some strong upside when arriving in New England late last season with nine tackles, two pass deflections and one interception in only five games played for the team.

The Patriots are hopeful that version of Austin shows up again as more firepower for the struggling defense.
