The Pittsburgh Steelers have finally made that wide receiver trade that fans have been waiting for. Drum roll, please… Mike Williams. The very Mike Williams who had one 15-yard catch on two targets in the Jets showdown with the Steelers in Week 7.
Very underwhelming. But it’s also the type of move the Steelers would make. They’ve rarely been a team that makes a splash at the trade deadline, and Williams’ acquisition is further proof. The fact that Williams is no longer a household name won’t matter as long as he produces on the field.
In eight seasons since being selected by the Los Angeles Chargers at No. 7 overall, Williams has logged 4,972 yards and 31 touchdowns on 321 receptions.
Here’s what Steelers fans say about Russell Wilson‘s new target on X:

My Pittsburgh Steelers got Mike Williams in a trade with the Jets for a fifth round pick!
Williams has been a great second option for years and he is a great asset next to George Pickens and alongside Calvin Austin and Van Jefferson. Big target with EXCELLENT hands. I love it! pic.twitter.com/epRimXRYaY — Bernard Oliver (@boliver36) November 5, 2024

The Steelers probably could’ve had Mike Williams two weeks ago for a 6th or 7th round pick. But they waited, like they did all offseason, and at first glance it looks like an overpay. Sometimes that happens when you wait until last call and the bar is playing Closing Time.
