Texas crowd gives warm welcome to Lee Corso in return to College GameDay

Fans in Austin welcomed Lee Corso back to the College GameDay crew after a two week absence for health related reasons.

After a two-week absence due to illness, college football analyst Lee Corso returned to ESPN’s College GameDay program on Saturday morning in Austin, Texas for an SEC battle between the Texas Longhorns and Georgia Bulldogs.

The 89-year-old Corso missed GameDay’s last two appearances – in Berkeley, California for an ACC matchup between Cal and Miami, followed by Eugene for the massive Big Ten battle between Oregon and Ohio State – and was welcomed back to a huge ovation from the crowd in Austin.

“It’s been a long two weeks without you, so we’re glad you’re home,” fellow anchor Kirk Herbstreit said. “And you already got your Hook ’em going.”

GameDay is in Austin for a huge matchup between the No. 1 ranked Longhorns, who are 6-0 and 2-0 in the SEC, and the No. 4 Bulldogs of Georgia, who are 5-1 with their only loss coming against Alabama.

The fans in Austin have a long wait, with the game scheduled to kickoff at 6:30 PM CT on ABC.
