One of the Spartans’ top commits in the 2025 class has been elevated to four-star status.
Defensive lineman Derrick Simmons received a rankings bump in the latest update from 247Sports, and is now listed as a four-star prospect. Additionally, he’s now listed as a Top247 prospect.
Simmons ranks as the No. 29 defensive lineman and No. 245 overall prospect in 247Sports’ rankings for the 2025 class. He’s also listed as the No. 3 player from Michigan in the class.
Simmons hails from Frankenmuth, Mich. and has been committed to Michigan State since late June. He committed to the Spartans over notable offers from Illinois, Purdue, Northwestern and Cincinnati.
