Top 5 2026 edge rusher puts Longhorns in his final top 10

One of the top edge rushers in the 2026 class, Jamarion Carlton, released his top ten list of schools, and Texas made the cut

Although the Texas Longhorns are on their bye week, they still made headlines on Tuesday. One of the top edge rushers in the 2026 class, Jamarion Carlton, released his top ten list of schools, and Texas made the cut. As the Longhorns look to add to their 2026 class, Carlton would be a welcome piece.

According to On3 Recruits, the Texas native is currently ranked as the fourth-best player in the state and No.46 nationally. While the Longhorns have made their interest clear, they are also competing with Kansas State, Ohio State, Baylor, Nebraska, Texas A&M, and Texas Tech.

Over the last few years, Carlton has been a human highlight reel and frustrated offensive coordinators. He has flashed high-level playmaking ability and has been hard to guard. That skillset would fit in nicely with the Longhorns, who have impressed the potential future star.

“It’s close to home, and Texas is a good school,” Carlton told On3 Recruits when asked about the Longhorns. “They have a whole lot of good players, and it was amazing watching practice again.”

Although Carlton is in no rush to make a commitment, he has reportedly said that being close to home will be a significant factor. That is partly why four Texas schools are in his top ten. The Longhorns are hoping that he chooses to call Austin home and join a 2026 class already one of the best in the country.
