The Seattle Seahawks will soon face a Buffalo Bills team with diminished strength along their defensive line. On Tuesday it was reported the NFL will be suspending Bills defensive end Von Miller four games for violating the league’s personal conduct policy. This stems from an arrest last year where Miller allegedly assaulted his pregnant girlfriend.
Although no charges were ultimately filed, the league’s own investigation clearly determined the Super Bowl 50 MVP’s actions were more than enough to warrant a suspension. The NFL does not require criminal charges or convictions to find a player guilty of violating their own policies.
The suspension begins immediately, as Miller will miss the next four games. This includes the Week 8 game in Seattle to play the Seahawks. It will be the Bills’ first trip to Lumen Field since a Monday Night Football showdown during the 2016 season.
Miller signed a six-year contract with Buffalo prior to the 2022 season, and had eight sacks his first year with the team before tearing his ACL. Miller, predictably, had a down season in 2023 returning from injury, but in 2024 has three sacks already in four games.
For Seattle, this is a bit of a break for their ailing offensive line. Once more, the Seahawks are struggling up front to open up consistent running lanes and keeping quarterback Geno Smith upright. To be able to avoid a defensive line with a resurgent Von Miller is going to help this offense perform well against the dominant Bills.
