There is no better match-up in college football over the past five years than the Alabama Crimson Tide vs. the Georgia Bulldogs. The two squads have met five times since the start of the 2020 season with two coming for SEC Championships and one for a national title. They’ve combined to win the past four SEC titles and three of the last four national titles.
Saturday night in Tuscaloosa didn’t disappoint as the Dawgs roared back from a 28-0 first-half deficit before Bama true freshman WR Ryan Williams made the play of the game, and arguably the season on a 75-yard TD to give Alabama a seven-point fourth quarter lead. True freshman CB Zabien Brown picked off Carson Beck in the endzone in the last minute to close out the game and give the Tide a 41-34 victory.
The player of the game was Alabama QB Jalen Milroe who stamped himself as the Heisman Trophy favorite after another sensational performance. Milroe was 27/33 passing for 374 yards, two touchdowns and a pick. However, the pick wasn’t truly as his fault as his receiver bobbled it up into the air for UGA defenders to grab. He also carried the ball 16 times for 117 yards and two touchdowns.
Milroe’s success through the air against a Kirby Smart and Glenn Schumann coached defense can not be understated. Now, many people are talking about Milroe as if he will be a first round pick in the 2025 NFL draft. Even former New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan argues that Milroe could be the No. 1 overall selection.
"Why the hell isn't Milroe the first overall pick?"
