Alabama rises in US LBM Coaches Poll after huge win against Georgia

Alabama’s thrilling win over Georgia catapults them in US LBM Coaches Poll.

Every time the Alabama Crimson Tide and Georgia Bulldogs get together it is appointment television. The Tide have dominated the series winning nine of the last ten, but they always come down to the thinnest of margins with last night being the latest case.

The Bulldogs rallied from an early 28-0 lead to take a 34-33 fourth-quarter lead with less than 2:30 to go. That was until the Heisman Trophy favorite Jalen Milroe found 17-year-old phenom Ryan Williams for 75 yards and the go-ahead and eventual game-winning touchdown.

It was one of those instant classic games with both teams showing they are Playoff caliber. As a result, the Tide rose to No. 2 in the Week 6 US LBM Coaches Poll, behind only the Texas Longhorns. Texas received 29 first-place votes, while Alabama received 19. The Bulldogs only dropped to No. 5 in the Poll and will have a shot at redemption in three weeks when they travel to Austin to face new No. 1 Texas.

The SEC now has nine conference members ranked with five in the top ten. I think when it’s all said and done, we will look at four of five Playoff teams coming from the SEC.
