The Buffalo Bills (3-0) head into Week 4 of the NFL’s 2024 regular season fresh off a 47-10 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars last week.
Coming into the year, many were all over the place when ranking how the Bills stacked up against the rest of the league. But, after a few weeks it appears the Bills have put the NFL world on notice.
Here’s how the Bills fare in national media power rankings polls heading into Week 4:
Have they looked more impressive than the 31 other teams through three weeks? A perfect record with a league-best point differential of +64 suggest as much for a group seeking a fifth straight AFC East title – and much more. Big test in Baltimore on Sunday night, the Bills’ third consecutive prime-time game.
1. Bills (last week No. 2; 3-0):
“JoSH aLlEn Is oVeRraTEd.”
2) Buffalo Bills (3-0; LW: T2)
We do not know what will happen if the Bills and Chiefs meet AGAIN in January, but for the time being, there has not been a more impressive team this young season than the Buffalo Bills. While favorites are falling all over the board and the Chiefs are winning one-score games, the Bills aren’t taking prisoners, winning the last two weeks by a combined score of 88-20.
Josh Allen had as close to a perfect night as possible, leading the Bills to touchdowns on the first five drives of the game and surpasses Patrick Mahomes as the MVP betting favorite at all major books. Buffalo has scored 30+ points in all three games and take the Chiefs spot for the time being. A win in Baltimore next week on Sunday night would keep them here.

Week 3 Result: Won vs. Jacksonville 47-10
Earlier this week, Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen had a message for Bills Mafia ahead of this week’s primetime meeting with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
“Bills Mafia, they live for games like this,” Allen told reporters. “Hopefully we have them in the building and they’re as loud as can be, making as much noise when the opposing team is on offense and hopefully they’re quiet when we’re on offense. Best fans in the league.”
Well, Bills Mafia was most assuredly in the building—and they had to like what they saw from Buffalo.
To say that the Bills demolished the Jaguars doesn’t really do the game justice. Allen had 247 passing yards and four touchdowns—in the first half. The Bills scored touchdowns on all five first-half possessions. The Bills outgained the Jaguars by 150 yards, and the margin would have been much larger had Buffalo’s starters not sat out the fourth quarter.
It was one of the most dominant performances in the NFL we have seen this year—and it left Davenport wondering if Bleacher Report has the right team in the top slot in these Power Rankings.
“The only reason I have the Bills ranked behind Kansas City is that Buffalo’s opponents this year are a combined 2-7,” he said. “But after a close one against the Cardinals in the opener, the Bills have laid waste to both Florida teams. The offseason concerns about the Buffalo offense appear almost laughable now. The Bills defense looks as good as ever. You want the biggest challenger to Kansas City in the AFC? It’s Buffalo—again.”
The Bills really could make a case for No. 1 here, but I didn’t want to be the guy who dropped the Chiefs from the top spot after the back-to-back Super Bowl champs opened the season with three wins. But the way Buffalo absolutely obliterated Jacksonville served as a firm reminder that this team isn’t going anywhere. It was a near-perfect night for the Bills. Josh Allen got cooking early, burgeoning his early MVP candidacy. Dalton Kincaid scored his first touchdown of the season. Khalil Shakir took another step forward. Keon Coleman caught his first NFL TD pass. And in the moment that truly energized the crowd, Damar Hamlin snagged his first career interception. Buffalo has a different level of focus and execution to start this season, one that took way too long to develop a year ago. Guess that Super Bowl window hasn’t closed just yet.
This team is rolling right now. But now comes a big one with the Ravens on the road. Josh Allen is the MVP leader right now.
Josh Allen has been good for a while. He is on another level to start this season. Allen took over as the new NFL MVP favorite in BetMGM’s odds during Monday night’s dismantling of the Jaguars. It shouldn’t surprise anyone if he won MVP for the first time this season.
Last week: 2
Monday: Beat Jacksonville Jaguars 47-10
Surprise: That all of their offseason losses haven’t hurt
In fact, some of them might have helped. The Bills scored touchdowns on their first five possessions Monday night and led 34-3 at halftime. As long as Josh Allen is still around, anything seems possible. On Monday, Allen posted his fourth career game with 250 or more passing yards, four or more passing touchdowns and 40 or more rushing yards. That’s more than anyone in NFL history, and Allen had done it before the fourth quarter started. He finished 23-for-30 for 263 yards and four touchdowns, and Damar Hamlin grabbed his first career interception to make the night just about perfect for the Bills.
Up next: at Baltimore Ravens, Sunday, 8:20 p.m. ET
Previous Ranking: 4
You can make a case that the Buffalo Bills should be at the No. 1 spot. Their wins have been much more impressive than Kansas City’s, and Josh Allen is playing out of his mind.
The Bills scored five first-half touchdowns against the Jaguars, and that game was well over before 9 PM ET. As long as Buffalo can stay healthy, it is the clear-cut No. 2 team in the AFC, and we would all be so lucky if we could get another Bills-Chiefs matchup in the playoffs.
Next Game: Sunday, Sept. 29 vs. Ravens
Week 3 ranking: 2
Biggest issue on offense: Developing the wide receiver room
Finding an issue with the Bills’ offense through the first three weeks of the season is simply nitpicking, as this group has shown it can have success in a variety of ways and has been one of the best offenses in the NFL. But there are steps forward this wide receiver group can continue to take. Outside of Khalil Shakir — who has caught all 14 of his targets — another dependable and consistent wide receiver hasn’t yet emerged. One to watch is rookie Keon Coleman, who was benched for the first quarter vs. the Jaguars on Monday for tardiness but then caught a touchdown pass. There’s also room for Curtis Samuel and Mack Hollins to grow their roles. How this room continues to develop will be worth watching.
