Arch Manning’s uncle Eli trolls rest of family after Texas QBs 1st start

Longhorns QB Arch Manning was born into football royalty. His grandfather and two uncles all played. But who had the best 1st start?

Texas Longhorns redshirt freshman quarterback Arch Manning was born into football royalty. Manning’s Grandfather Archie and two Uncles Peyton and Eli have all had enormous success on the gridiron as quarterbacks.

Archie Manning is in the College Football Hall of Fame, the New Orleans Saints Ring of Honor and Hall of Fame and his No. 18 is retired at Ole Miss.

His Uncle Peyton Manning is a two-time Super Bowl champion, a Super Bowl MVP, a five-time NFL MVP, his No. 16 is retired at Tennessee and his No. 18 is retired by the Colts. He was inducted to the College Football Hall of Fame in 2017 and the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2021. He is also in both the Colts Ring of Honor and the Broncos Ring of Fame,

His Uncle Eli Manning is also a two-time Super Bowl champion, a two-time Super Bowl MVP, in the NY Giants Ring of Honor, his No. 10 is retired by the Giants and at Ole Miss.

Now, with an official start under his belt, Arch begins his football journey in earnest.

Arch Manning had a good start to his career against ULM, going 15 of 29 for 258 yards with 2 TDs and 2 INTs. But there were certainly some mistakes made by Manning. Arch gave himself a C+ on the night. Texas coach Steve Sarkisian agreed.

“I’d like that completion percentage to be a little higher tonight. But hey, learning lessons, right? To think he’d come out and play a perfect game, I don’t think anyone in here thought that. I thought he was going to prepare really well. Work really hard. Do everything he could to play good football. He was going to have some lessons learned and I think that’s what tonight was about.” — Steve Sarkisian

So which Manning had the best first college start? Arch’s Uncle Eli jumped on social media after the game to claim bragging rights. Eli tossed five touchdowns and had 271-yards passing in his college debut. Arch’s 258 and two TDs came in second. Archie had two touchdowns on 116 yards passing and bringing up the rear is Peyton with 79 yards and no touchdowns.

Arch will have a long way to go to match the accomplishments of his family, but he’s just starting.
