Baltimore Ravens running back Derrick Henry is one of the best players of his generation, and his extremely disciplined diet sounds like a big reason as to why.

On the Fox Sports broadcast of Baltimore’s game against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, Fox’s Tom Rinaldi went through the diet restrictions that Henry puts on himself to maintain his form and athleticism.

“[Henry] spends more than a quarter-million dollars on what he calls body maintenance,” Rinaldi said on the game broadcast.

According to Rinaldi, Henry’s football diet includes requirements like:

  • No fried food
  • No dairy
  • No gluten
  • No artificial sugars
  • Henry doesn’t eat until 4 or 5 in the evening, unless he maybe has a banana or avocado before practice

It takes real commitment to adhere to that strict a diet, but it’s clearly working for Henry as he continues his strong NFL play as a Raven this season.
