As Manning dazzled with his arm, he also made an impact with his legs. That included a 67-yard rushing touchdown, the longest by a Texas quarterback since Vince Young in 2005. In two-plus quarters, Manning completed 9-of-12 passes for 223 yards and four touchdowns.

While the last few days have been a whirlwind for the Longhorn star freshman, a shot out from Young is a highlight. He is considered one of the greatest quarterbacks in program history. Young led the Longhorns to an unforgettable 41-38 win over USC in the 2006 BCS National Championship Game. He finished second in the Heisman Trophy voting that year.

With Ewers week to week, Manning’s time as the starter this year could be brief. On Saturday, he showed that the future in Austin is bright, and former Longhorns legends are taking notice.
