The Clemson baseball program and coach Erik Bakich got another shot in the arm Monday when a top in-state prospect from the class of 2026 announced a verbal pledge to the Tigers.
Ethan Offing, a shortstop from Dutch Fork and two-sport star, announced his intention to play for Clemson in a social media post.
“My family and I are very excited to announce my commitment to Clemson University to further my academic and baseball career,” Offing wrote on the social media platform X, formerly Twitter.

Offing is in his junior year at Dutch Fork. He also plays quarterback for the school’s football team.
On the baseball diamond last season, Offing batted .265 with one home run, 12 RBIs and 13 stolen bases. The Charlotte Observer noted that Offing is the fourth-ranked shortstop by Diamond Prospects in the state for the class of 2026.
Clemson is coming off a season in which the Tigers (44-16) finished No. 9 in the final USA TODAY Sports baseball coaches poll. Bakich’s team advanced to the Super Regional round of the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2010 before falling to Florida.
