Texas Longhorns up to No. 3 in newest US LBM Coaches Poll

Texas took advantage of a slow start by Oregon to move up in newest US LBM Coaches Poll. The Longhorns now sit No. 3 heading into Michigan week.

The top nine teams in the US LBM Coaches Poll won their opening game to the 2024 season, but there was still some movement. The Oregon Ducks looked mediocre at home against Idaho, needing a late TD to pull away and win by 10 points.

Voters punished the Ducks in the poll this week and moved Oregon from No. 3 to No. 6 in the second ranking of the year. That means that Texas, Alabama and Ole Miss all moved up one spot. The Longhorns are now No. 3.

The biggest drops in this week’s poll were Florida State, who started the year No. 10 and are now all the way out of the Top 25, and LSU. The Tigers lost in Las Vegas to USC. The Trojans used that victory to springboard up nine spots.
