The Iowa Hawkeyes did what was expected of them in Week 1 by handling Illinois State, and in return, they are being rewarded with a nice climb in the latest US LBM Coaches Poll ahead of Week 2.
The Hawkeyes, previously rounding out the poll at No. 25, have ascended four spots and sit at No. 21 in this week’s poll. That is the same ranking they hold in ESPN’s most recent power rankings as well.
Staring down Iowa is in-state rival Iowa State, who are headed to town for the Cy-Hawk Rivalry. While not ranked, the Cyclones did receive 10 points in the polls following their season-opening victory over North Dakota.
Other Big Ten programs litter the poll and represent the conference with a healthy amount of teams. Ohio State is at No. 2, Oregon at No. 6, Penn State at No. 8, Michigan at No. 8, USC at No. 14, and Washington at No. 25.
