Running back Chip Trayanum will miss Kentucky’s week two game

Kentucky football will be without running back Chip Trayanum once again this week.

When Kentucky running back Chip Trayanum broke his hand back in the early part of August, it was reported that he would miss three or four weeks. After sitting out week one against Southern Miss, there was hope he could return next weekend, but that won’t happen.

On Monday, Wildcats coach Mark Stoops confirmed that Trayanum would not be available in Kentucky’s SEC opener against South Carolina on Saturday. Then, if things go well, he would return in week three for the big match-up with Georgia.

On Saturday, against Southern Miss, Kentucky relied on Demie Sumo-Karngbaye and Jason Patterson to handle a bulk of the carries. Those two ran for 87 yards on 12 carries. As a team, they totaled 148 yards rushing and a touchdown in a short game due to lightning.

Trayanum came to Kentucky from Ohio State this season, and is talented enough to be one of the SEC’s better running backs. Coach Stoops, and Wildcats fans, are hoping he gets to show that talent off starting against the Bulldogs in week three.
