The Washington Commanders selected LSU QB Jayden Daniels with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft to change the franchise’s future and lead them to places they haven’t been in over 30 years. The 2023 Heisman Trophy winner threw for 3,812 yards and 40 TDs for the LSU Tigers as a 5th year senior. Below, we look at Jayden Daniels’ 2024 fantasy football average draft position (ADP) and where you should draft him.

Entering 2024, there’s no QB controversy in Washington. New offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury brings a run-pass option-heavy scheme after replacing Eric Bieniemy. While Kingsbury’s results in Arizona were mixed, Daniels likes his approach. The Commanders’ offense has potential, with Terry McLaurin as a WR1, a revamped TE room, and RB Austin Ekeler in the backfield. Daniels’ rushing ability also adds significant fantasy value, projected 4th in QB rushing yards and 5th in rushing TDs.

Where should you draft Daniels?

Daniels is among the most intriguing rookie QBs, following a standout 2023 season at LSU. Known for his athleticism and dynamic playmaking ability, Daniels was a human highlight reel, showcasing his skills both through the air and on the ground. Critics may point to his late breakout or LSU’s stacked offense as reasons to temper expectations, but Daniels’ experience and talent are undeniable.

What makes Daniels particularly exciting for fantasy football in 2024 is his rushing potential. Kingsbury has a history of maximizing mobile QBs, as seen with Murray, who finished as QB7 in his rookie year under Kingsbury’s guidance. Daniels has the tools to thrive in a similar system, making him a potential steal in summer drafts.

The Commanders’ offense also offers promise with key playmakers like  McLaurin and Ekeler providing Daniels with reliable targets and support out of the backfield. While the offensive line has some question marks, particularly at left tackle, the overall setup could allow Daniels to hit the ground running—literally.

Currently projected as a top-5 QB in rushing yards and rushing TDs, Daniels brings significant fantasy upside. If you’re looking for a rookie QB with the potential to make an immediate impact, Daniels should be on your radar. He may not be a safe pick, but his high ceiling makes him a compelling option in the later rounds of your draft.
