On Tuesday, the Buffalo Bills parted ways with multiple players including former Alabama safety Kareem Jackson and Tyrell Shavers. One day later, the Bills signed both Jackson and Shavers to their practice squad.
Shavers was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Bills following the conclusion of the 2023 NFL draft. He spent last season as a member of the team’s practice squad. During the preseason, Shavers hauled in four receptions for 28 yards. Despite not having much production, many expected Shavers to be a part of the 53-man roster. Instead, he will be a part of the practice squad for now.
On the other hand, the Bills signed Jackson several weeks ago. The veteran safety has spent time with both the Denver Broncos and Houston Texans over the course of his 14-year career. The former first-round pick has had a solid NFL career. He will have to work his way up from the practice squad this time around. However, it is something that Jackson should be able to do sooner rather than later.
Eventually, I anticipate that both Shavers and Jackson will be a part of the Bills active roster.
