Recruit provides reasoning for choosing Michigan over Ohio State

Recruit provides reasoning for choosing Michigan over Ohio State #GoBucks

Eli Owens is a three-star tight end in the class of 2025 from the state of Tennessee, but despite being in SEC country, was aggressively recruited by the majority of the Big Ten including Michigan State and Ohio State. The consensus top-30 tight end in the class committed to the Michigan Wolverines in January and hasn’t wavered since.

The Buckeyes have since moved on currently having two other tight ends committed in the same class, with one being ranked significantly higher than Owens, but this post isn’t necessarily about the recruit, but more about his experience while visiting the Buckeyes.

The young receiver was on the Wolverines Chronicle podcast and discussed the difference between Michigan and Ohio State and how they recruit and stated, “When I was at Ohio State they never talked to me about what would happen if football didn’t work out.”

It is important to note that a ton of former players have come out to say Ohio State does a great job of setting these athletes up for their careers post-football, but it is interesting to see that this young recruit didn’t feel that way.
