Jacksonville Jaguars RB Travis Etienne was drafted 25th overall in 2021 to pair in the backfield with his former college teammate QB Trevor Lawrence. These two had tons of success at Clemson together and hopes were high that it would transfer to the professional level. Etienne averaged over 5 yards a carry as a rookie but his efficiency waned in his sophomore season. Below, we look at Travis Etienne’s 2024 fantasy football average draft position (ADP) and where you should draft him.

Etienne is 25 years old and has proven to be durable and is expected to handle significant volume this upcoming season. Despite some minor efficiency concerns, he remains the focal point in Jacksonville’s offense with minimal competition for touches.

The Rams’ Kyren Williams (20.58) is just ahead of Etienne at 7th, while Detroit’s Jahmyr Gibbs (16.56) and Saquon Barkley (14.47) are 6th and 5th, respectively. Just behind Etienne is Baltimore’s new tailback Derrick Henry (23.94) and Miami’s De’Von Achane (26.19).

Where should you draft Etienne?

Etienne is getting drafted mostly in the middle of the 2nd round, a value pick with significant upside. By this point in fantasy drafts, you likely have a tier-1 wide receiver and now have the chance to grab a running back with top-5 potential at the position. Etienne’s skill set and situation position him for a breakout season.

While the Jaguars offense revolves around Lawrence, Etienne benefits from the attention paid to the team’s proven weapons like WR Christian Kirk and TE Evan Engram. Add in explosive threats like rookie WR Brian Thomas Jr. and newly acquired WR Gabe Davis, and Etienne should find plenty of space to operate in both the run and pass game.

Looking ahead to 2024, Etienne’s situation draws comparisons to RB Christian McCaffrey’s Year 3 breakout. While Etienne isn’t expected to produce CMC-like numbers, he’s primed for a big step forward, which could deliver a high return on investment at his current draft price. His top-5 upside and role in a rising offense make him a potential league-winner in this range of drafts.
