Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers has earned a spot on another preseason watch list. The junior quarterback was named to the watch list for the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award. Each year, the award is given to the top offensive player in the FBS who demonstrates integrity, performance, teamwork, sportsmanship, drive, community, and tenacity.
Over the last two years, Ewers has led the Longhorns to 16 wins in 22 starts. During that stretch, he has recorded 5,656 career passing yards, the eighth most in program history. He has also been a scoring machine, recording 37 passing touchdowns.

As Ewers looks to led the Longhorns to a national championship, he is coming off one the best seasons of his career. The Longhorns star completed 69 percent of his passes during the 2023 campaign for 3,479 yards. He also added five rushing touchdowns to his resume. Due to his stellar play, Ewers was named a 2023 AP All-Big 12 Second Team selection.
After a stellar sophomore season, Ewers has made headlines the last few months. He has also been named on preseason watch lists for the Davey O’Brien Award, Johnny United Golden Arm Award, Manning Award, Maxwell Award, and Walter Camp Player of the Year.
Due to the high expectations, Ewers is about to enter a critical year in his Longhorns career. However, it is something he can handle, as he has shown that he can lead this team regardless of how the roster changes. That will be key in a competitive SEC conference where the Longhorns will try to show they belong in their inaugural season.
The watch list will be narrowed to 16 semifinalists in November before being cut down to five in December. At the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Banquet in January, the winner will be revealed.
