A.J. Allmendinger joins Kaulig Racing in NASCAR Cup Series for 2025

A.J. Allmendinger joins Kaulig Racing full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series for the 2025 season after moving to the Xfinity Series this year.

[autotag]A.J. Allmendinger[/autotag] and [autotag]Kaulig Racing[/autotag] are throwing it back to the 2023 NASCAR season. On Thursday afternoon, Kaulig Racing announced that Allmendinger will return to the NASCAR Cup Series full-time in 2025. The 42-year-old driver moved back down to the NASCAR Xfinity Series in 2024 after spending the 2023 season in the Cup Series.

Allmendinger has won two races with Kaulig Racing in the Cup Series, with one coming at the Indianapolis Road Course in 2021 and the other at the Charlotte ROVAL in 2023. Instead of having a full-time driver in the No. 16 Cup car in 2024, Kaulig Racing decided to run the entry with part-time drivers throughout the season.

Kaulig Racing has struggled outside of Shane van Gisbergen’s success on the road courses, and moving Allmendinger back to the Cup Series is an excellent decision. He ran well in 2023, and while the equipment has not been great this season, there should be optimism for next year. Kaulig Racing needs a boost, and Allmendinger should provide great energy.
