Ohio State Buckeyes name Will Howard starting QB

Will Howard has officially taken over the reins as the starter in Columbus.

The Ohio State Buckeyes officially named Will Howard as their starting quarterback on Thursday. This was reported by On3’s Dan Morrison.

Howard transferred from Kansas State to Ohio State and played in 34 games for the Wildcats, recording 5,786 passing yards and 48 touchdowns to 25 interceptions. He proved to be a dual threat while with the program, rushing for 121 yards and 19 touchdowns as well.

He enjoyed a successful 2023 season that saw him record 2,643 passing yards, 24 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions on the year. The quarterback had five games in which he threw more than three touchdown passes.

Howard officially committed to Ohio State in January.  Coach Ryan Day indicated that as of Thursday, Devin Brown would be the No. 2 quarterback on the depth chart.

The Huskers have yet to officially name as starting quarterback for the season opener against UTEP on August 31. The program will face Ohio State this season, doing so at The Horseshoe on October 26.
