George Kittle opened his Niners press conference by roasting the media’s sneaker game

Tough but fair.

As the NFL season approaches for every player, they really want to look and play their best for the new year. And it turns out that George Kittle somewhat has the same expectations for the media members covering the 49ers.

Kittle met with reporters after Wednesday’s training camp session, and he opted to kick the press conference off on a (jokingly) serious note. The Niners tight end has been observing the sneaker game for every reporter covering the team this summer, and thus far, he hasn’t been impressed.

He hoped that voicing those concerns would inspire some change in the Niners media.

Tough but fair.

Still, I’d guess that most of the reporters covering the team have opted for comfort and function over style when it comes to footwear — particularly in a training camp setting where they’re on their feet.

We’ll have to check back and see if any reporters took the roasting to heart and stepped up the shoe game. Kittle expects better.
