NASCAR arrived at Richmond Raceway, and no one could have predicted the night’s outcome. Christopher Bell won Stage 1 and had the dominant car, but a speeding penalty in the Final Stage ended his chances. Meanwhile, Daniel Suarez won Stage 2 after gaining track position. However, a Richard Childress Racing driver shocked the NASCAR world.
[autotag]Austin Dillon[/autotag] won the Cook Out 400 at Richmond, earning his first victory of the 2024 NASCAR season. Dillon was cruising to one of NASCAR’s biggest upsets in recent memory until a caution occurred with two laps to go. Dillon got a bad restart and was passed by Joey Logano. In the final corners, Dillon spun both Logano and Denny Hamlin to secure a shocking victory.

There will be a discussion over whether Dillon intentionally hooked Hamlin, but the replay doesn’t show such a thing. In fact, the driver of the No. 3 car is now locked into the 2024 NASCAR playoffs despite sitting 32nd in the point standings entering the night. Dillon has finally returned to victory lane, and this might be one of his most shocking victories yet.
