Bengals rookie WR Jermaine Burton avoids serious injury at training camp

Bengals rookie WR Jermaine Burton was one of a few players to get hurt at a recent training camp practice.

Cincinnati Bengals rookie wideout Jermaine Burton has been one of the training camp standouts for the team so far.

Thursday, though, Burton was one of several players to leave the field with apparent injuries in the sweltering heat.

Burton spent some time on the sideline getting looked at by trainers before walking off the field under his own power, calling an early end to his day.

According to NFL reporter Jordan Schultz, though, Burton avoided a serious injury and only came off the field after the “ankle tweak” as a precaution.

Burton is the latest to avoid a serious injury this week, with Sam Hubbard also escaping a serious setback despite needing a cart to leave the field recently.

First-round rookie Amarius Mims also needed a cart to leave the field on Thursday, though he’s apparently fine.

As for Burton, if the setback holds him out a few days, it’s still not a serious issue and he’ll remain in the running to be the third wideout in the base offense.
