Michelle Alozie starts for Nigeria against Japan

Former Tennessee soccer player starts in the Olympics against Japan.

Japan defeated Nigeria, 3-1, Wednesday during the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France.

Former Lady Vols’ soccer player Michelle Alozie started the match for Nigeria. The former Lady Vol started at defender and played the entire contest.

She played for Nigeria in the 2023 Women’s World Cup and the 2022 Cup of Nations. Alozie also appeared in three international friendlies for Nigeria.

During the Olympics, Alozie appeared in three matches, making three starts for Nigeria (0-3-0).

The Apple Valley, California native played for Tennessee in 2019. She played forward for the Lady Vols, scoring seven career goals, and went to Tennessee as a graduate transfer after four years at Yale.

Alozie plays professionally for Houston Dash of the National Women’s Soccer League.
