Bills sign Kareem Jackson after injuries pop up at training camp

#Bills sign Kareem Jackson after injuries pop up at training camp:

The Buffalo Bills have signed veteran safety Kareem Jackson following a slew of injuries at the position.

Mike Edwards has battled injury since the spring, only to add a hamstring issue this week. A day later, second-round rookie Cole Bishop hurt his arm and thankfully Jackson was already on his way at that point.

Jackson, 36, was a first-round pick of the Houston Texans out of Alabama all the way back in 2010. He is entering his 15th NFL season.

Jackson will easily bring the most NFL experience to the revamped safety room in Buffalo following the departures of Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer. Jackson has started 193 of his 203 career games with the Texans and Denver Broncos.

With Jackson in the fold, he joins Taylor Rapp, Damar Hamlin, Kendall Williamson and Dee Delaney on the roster at safety.

In his career, Jackson has 22 interceptions, seven forced fumbles, three sacks and 110 passes defensed.

Despite all his experience, Jackson had some issues staying on the field in 2023. He was suspended twice for two illegal hits. The Broncos released Jackson after the second one. Jackson was fined a total of $86,670 for four illegal hits last season and lost $838,889 in missed game checks.

In a corresponding move, linebacker Shayne Simon was released.

Bills Wire will continue to provide all roster updates throughout the 2024 season.
