Even John Elway can admit it, he swung and he missed.
The former Denver Broncos legend was their general manager around the time of the 2018 NFL draft. The same one where the Buffalo Bills selected quarterback Josh Allen at No. 7 overall.
The Broncos and Elway had their chance. On the board at fifth-overall, Denver ended up selecting pass rusher Bradley Chubb. A fine pick. He has performed well in the NFL when healthy.
Chubb is also not Allen… and Elway knows it.
Speaking with Barstool Sports, Elway said not taking Allen was the “biggest mistake” of his GM career.
Naturally, Elway recalled a classic type of Allen story too. The Bills QB ended up reminding him of that decision while the two were golfing once.
